The Persian cat is named after its origin: indeed, it is native to Iran. Subsequently, some travelers from Italy brought her back to Europe where the Persian was the happiness of the bourgeois. In the nineteenth century, the British changed the original form of that race to create other types of cats.
This cat is very popular, especially for its natural beauty and its nose despite a flat body rather round. Her long hair is really the hallmark of the breed,best-selling cat breed worldwide. It is also much loved in the English-speaking countries such as Britain or the United States.
The typical shape of the head makes the Persian cat easy recognizable. The head is fairly round but with cheekbones and chin well marked. In addition, her little nose just round is legendary. But it is the eyes of the Persian which gives an air of softness. Their silky coat and their eyes are their strong point during felines contests. However, these eyes are fragile, the Persians have regularly tear problems.
Regarding the different dresses of this cat, we can identify three different types. Initially, the first Persians had a dress uniform. The dominant color can vary, but white, cream and chocolate are fairly regularly. Some Persian cats have several coat colors. This is due to crosses made by the British. One then finds the dominant red, blue or even tortoise shell. The last type of dress is called tabby. These cats are like when their original color, not dark but variations tiger or spotted. Many breeds were developed from crosses as exotic shorthair or the Himalayas.
Persian cats are home-loving and quiet. They are well suited to apartment life. The main difficulty of maintenance is to monitor their diet, the Persian cat has a tendency to eat a lot. Finally, a very regular brushing is required for these long-haired cats.

The Persian cat is one of the cats that the constant presence of man is needed: it needs lots of care and special attention. We must carefully study the diet and especially treatment especially its grooming. The diet should be balanced and varied, without exaggerating the amounts, in effect, given its massive structure, the Persian is a tendency to swell, which can lead to heart problems. During the first year of life it is more advisable to give the kitten drops of vitamins.
Those who choose a Persian should be prepared to devote much time to groom his hair, which must be brushed daily with a hair brush to prevent the formation of nodes, particular attention should be paid to hair on the tail because it easily becomes a real nest of chips.
This is fundamental to avoid including the cat, licking, swallow too much hair which causes respiratory and intestinal problems. The eyes also need a daily cleaning because they are continuously watery because of the shape of the nose.
The Persian does adapt to apartment life and lives quietly, even with large families, provided they respect it.

As its morphology, the character of the Persian cat has been subject to severe selection: we created a unseasonably warm weather and domestic, that ignores the typical savage instincts of his parents cats (for example, he does not know what it means to hunt). The Persian is quiet and calm, he enjoys the peace and sweetness of idleness, he spends much of the day dozing, without being distracted by any movement or noise. The calm that characterizes it is not provided him a “spineless”, he reveals the contrary is often a strong temperament and aristocratic. Although it does not show it, because it seems remote and its on to itself, it has a great need for affection it gives with fidelity and sympathy. In addition, aware of its beauty, because he likes to do: he wants to be admired and complimented.

The Persians have a vast and fascinating range of colors and designs.

They can be black, blue, red, cream, white, tortoiseshell, blue, cream, cinnamon (cinnamon), silver (silver), golden (golden).

If the basis of their hair is uniformly light, they are called smoke (black smoke, blue smoke, etc). The design of the dress may be of solid color, blotched tabby (marbled), striped tabby, spotted tabby (mottled), or with a mixture of white and other colors, either solid color or tabby. The Persian cat may also have items such as the Siamese, and it is called in this case Persian colorpoint.

In solid colors, it should not be any drawings, hair or other clear color tone. Subjects with black eyes have orange or copper. When the color of the hair is blue (the rarest), then the dress is lavender and orange or copper eyes intense. The subjects of cream from a cross between white and red Persians, their dress, which does not have shades, has a color ranging from ivory to yellow and pale fawn and their eyes are orange or copper.

The variety of red dress is also very difficult to obtain as desired, the color is a uniform orange-red and copper colored eyes. In the white-haired variety, the eyes are blue, orange or yellow. The range includes multicolor eyes given to the color of the dress. In tabby varieties, colors allowed, for example, are the brown tabby with a base color of sand, black stripes and orange eyes, the silver tabby, with a base color of pale silver, black markings and green eyes or hazel, the red tabby whose hair is brown and intense orange or copper eyes; the cameo tabby, with a base color cream and red marks, and the blue tabby, with the ivory dress with gray-blue marks, the cream tabby, whose base color is cream with tan stripes and copper eyes.

The race of the Persians is artificial because these cats come from a long and careful selection practiced by man from the nineteenth century. Its ancestor is the Turkish Angora from Turkey.

From the seventeenth century, the explorer Pietro della Valle fell in love with this cat in the long robe and imports from Asia Minor to make it known in Europe. In 1880, other Angoras were brought to France and England were the subjects selected the shortest and most first round from which the Persians, their beauty gave them a huge success: they spread not only in Europe but also the United States.

The appearance of the Persians today is different from that of their ancestors because the selection has been refined to obtain more hairy cats and more massive.
